LifeSkills Academy Announces New Name

The original mission of the school was to provide a school where students would get academic remediation as well as occupational and speech therapy for a period of 1-2 years, and then mainstream back into a more traditional educational setting.

“Over the past 3 years our mission has shifted to a long-term, academically challenging therapeutic school. The combination of a cutting edge, academically strong program that includes speech, occupational, music and art therapies has had a tremendous impact on our students. That impact has led us to where we are today, which is very exciting. We now have our first 9th graders and will be adding a grade a year so that the 2016-2017 school year will have our first graduating class! Other new programs that will be offered include a robotics club, yearbook club, chorus and art.” – Wendy Cox Blair, Director, The Arbor School of Central Florida.

With the change in our mission, it became clear that many of our students are planning to go to college or tech school after high school. Because of this, the board of directors and administration became very aware that the name needed to reflect the type of program now being offered at the school. LifeSkills Academy of Orlando is now The Arbor School of Central Florida.

…our son has never been happier since he's been at Arbor. With the other schools he attended in the past, it was always a struggle to get him to go every day. At Arbor, he is excited and happy to go every day. Thank you!”

“I finally found the right fit! My son has only been at Arbor for one year and has learned more than he has over the last several at a different private school for students with learning disorders.
